Prof. Andrejs Erglis

MD, PhD, FESC, FACC

Andrejs Erglis is Chief of Latvian Centre of Cardiology at Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital, Riga, Latvia. He is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Institute of Cardiology and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Latvia. Currently, Professor Erglis holds the position of the President of the Latvian Society of Cardiology and is Vice-President of Latvian Academy of Sciences.

 

He obtained his medical degree from Riga Medical Institute in 1989, and his PhD from the University of Latvia in 2006. Professor Erglis continued his training in interventional cardiology in the United States, Australia, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and France. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology.

 

Professor Erglis is a principal investigator and a member of the Steering Committees in several international multicentre trials. He is the author or co-author of more than 180 peer-reviewed articles.

 

His major fields of scientific interest are interventional cardiology (cutting balloon, left main, structural heart disease), regenerative medicine, precision medicine and epidemiology of cardiovascular disease.
